A visit to Þórsmörk is a
“must” during your stay in
Iceland. Þórsmörk is a
beautiful nature reserve
situated between three
glaciers, Mýrdalsjökull,
Eyjafjallajökull and
Tindfjallajökull - and one of
the most spectacular places in
the country. Passing through
rough mountain tracks and
crossing un-bridged glacial
rivers adds to the delight and
excitement of this spectacular
area. This is truly a magical
place to visit, the region has
a surprising richness of bird
life and arctic vegetation,
wonderful rock formations and
surroundings where the
Icelandic mythology of elves
and trolls comes to life.
Visitors to Þórsmörk have a
unique opportunity to see
nature at its best. A leisure
hike in the calm area of
Þórsmörk with breathtaking
view to glaciers and rugged
mountains on all sides is a
unique experience which
rejuvenates your soul. The hot
pool “Þórslaug”, may also be
visited, be sure to bring your
swimwear and towel along. |
This tour has some of the most
breathtaking and beautiful
scenery in Iceland.
Thjórsárdalur Valley where
there is a clear view of Mt.
Hekla, Iceland's best known
volcano. Landamannalaugar with
its abundance of hot and cold
springs where there is an
opportunity to bathe in a
lukewarm brook after a nice
hike. With the amazing lava
fields and the rhyolith
mountains, with their
multi-coloured shapes and
sizes, these are spectacular
surroundings.
|
Only a two-hour flight west
from Reykjavik is Kulusuk,

This tour takes us along the
beautiful south shore of
Iceland to the extraordinary
glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón.
We will pass some charming
villages as well as
Seljalandsfoss waterfall,
Skógarfoss waterfall and
Skaftafell National Park. Just
before we reach the lagoon we
pass Iceland’s biggest
volcano, Öræfajökull glacier
which has the highest peak of
the island, Hvannadalshnjúkur
(2110 m). After we arrive at
the lagoon we have some time
to view this stunning area
before we take a boat tour on
the lagoon (included). The
boats that carry us are no
ordinary boats as they are
capable of driving short
distances on land as well as
sailing on the water.
Jökulsárlón started to form in
the early nineteen twenties
and is getting bigger every
year. You will see many
amazing blocks of ice that
have broken off Europe’s
biggest glacier, Vatnajökull,
and sail slowly towards the
ocean which is only a
kilometer away. After a
refreshing sail on the lagoon
we head back to Reykjavík. |
The tours start with a coach
pickup at hotels in the
Reykjavik area 20 to 40
minutes before departure from
the Reykjavik Harbour. The
charismatic puffins arrive in
Iceland in April and depart at
the end of August. Near
Reykjavik you can find two
puffin islands, Akurey and
Lundey. During the breeding
season, tours stop by a
typical bird-island called
Akurey, which is populated by
over 15,000 pairs of puffins.
The puffin lay one egg per
year, and keep the same mate
every season. Rearing the
chick is shared by both puffin
parents, Puffins often live 20
years or more! On tours, you
will come extremely close to
the island, providing an
excellent photo opportunities!
Passengers are provided with
warm, floatable overalls and
raincoats. Guides will
describe what you can see and
where to look, together with
an introduction and safety
guide. |
