HI Iceland is a non-profit membership organization
established in 1939. The organization is a member of
Hostelling International, a worldwide network of over
4000 hostels in 80 countries with app. 35 million
overnights a year worldwide. Membership
means that the Icelandic hostels fulfill the international
standard for HI hostels.
Since its inception the organization's main goal has been to
promote and encourage travel with people of all ages,
increasing their knowledge and appreciation of nature
and culture.
