Fascinating history, great nature and everyday life is what characterizes this tour. Visit Narsaq, a charming town with colourful wooden houses and witness everyday life in the Arctic. Hike to the Inland Ice Cap, go by boat to the calving Qooroq Glacier or visit Brattahlid, the place where Eric the Red settled down more than 1000 years ago. The perfect combination of nature and modern life in the Arctic.

Historic sites from the Viking Age, the Inland Ice Cap, fertile mountains with sheep farms, deep blue fiords with multi-coloured icebergs, calving glaciers - and everything within short range from your hotel.

Narsarsuaq is is the area which Eric the Red found to be the best place to settle and where he found inspiration to name the new land: Greenland.
Hotel Narsarsuaq is the biggest and most preferred in South Greenland. It is a modern tourist class hotel offering a good restaurant with panoramic view over the nearby fiord, cafeteria, bar & souvenir shop.

Narsaq is a small colourful town with an interesting museum area around the old harbour. Many walking possibilities to the Viking ruins at Dyrnęs and to points of great geological interest. Narsaq is also a perfect place to experience the everyday life in a small Greenlandic town.

All accommodation is operated by a local family, who really make you feel at home in Narsaq. Hotel Perlen & Gedebakken is situated approximately 1.5km from Hotel Narsaq. Guesthouse Niviarsiaq is situated only 300 meters from Hotel Narsaq. At Hotel Narsaq you will find the cosy Restaurant Klara, transfer to/from your accommodation to Restaurant Klara is provided.
Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Keflavik airport to the Reykjavik domestic airport for the onward flight to Narsarsuaq in South Greenland. Check-in for three nights at Hotel Narsarsuaq and join our destination guide for an information meeting about the area.

Day 2-3: Two full days in Narsarsuaq allow plenty of time for optional excursions, including Eric the Red's Viking ruins, Village of Igaliku, Qooroq Ice Fjord and several hikes and helicopter tours. You may also explore on your own, head out for a hike or simply wander through the town.

Day 4: Transfer to the pier, where you will board a boat and travel through Eric's Fjord to Narsaq. Check-in for four nights your chosen accommodation and join our destination guide for an information meeting about the area.

Day 5-7: Three full days in Narsaq allow plenty of time for optional excursions, including a City Walking Tour, Hiking to the Dyrnaes Peninsula and Kvanefield, a boat tour to the Inland Ice Cap and a half day boat to tour explore ruins. You may also explore on your own, head out on one of the well-marked hiking trails, or simply wander through the town.

Day 8: Transfer to Narsaq harbour and travel by boat through the ice-filled Eric's Fjord to Narsarsuaq. Transfers from the pier to the airport and return to Reykjavik in the early evening. Check in to your accommodation in Reykjavik for two nights.

Day 9: A full day tour to the famous Golden Circle, a trio of natural wonders! The geothermal area Geysir, is where you can see one or more geysers spout steaming water into the sky and view other bubbling and hissing hot springs. Nearby is the waterfall Gullfoss, considered by many visitors and Icelanders to be the island's most beautiful falls! The historic Thingvellir National Park is site of the ancient parliament.

Day 10: Today's transfer to Keflavik Airport will include at stop at the Blue Lagoon. Enjoy a soak in the geothermal mineral waters and go home feeling relaxed and revitalized.
