From Iceland, you are only a short hop to
Greenland, possibly the most fascinating
island in the world! Head over to Amassalik
for a two-night stop and learn about this
delightful yet remote country. Known to local
residents as Tasiilaq, the largest town in
East Greenland with about 1,400 residents.
Ammassalik is only a 10-minutes by helicopter
from Kulusuk, your gateway airport from
Iceland. During this flight you will
experience one of the most scenic journeys
imaginable as you cross the ice-filled sea
separating these two mountainous islands.
Optional excursions include an iceberg
cruise with possible whale spotting, boat
trips to the Sermilik fjord and Apusiaajik
glacier and walks to explore a valley and its
arctic summer flora. The town itself lies just
south of the Arctic Circle and boasts long
hours of daylight in the summer and the
splendour of the northern lights in the
winter.
Day 1: A short flight from the
Reykjavik Domestic Airport to Kulusuk where
you will board a helicopter Tasiilaq.
Accommodation is confirmed here for two
nights.
